Ok girl I will get right on it.

thank you!
We have been getting some in (and we do thank everyone who has been bring items by) ... but unfortunately it is the time of year sad.gif where we are getting in SO many ... and for some reason we are having a lot more turn-ins then in the past (my knowledge), so with the baby season arriving and all of the turn ins and strays - the shelter is about full and we just are running low on cat treat & toys and the dog toys .....
just that little bit can bring so much joy to a furry one who is patiently waiting for their forever companion to come and find them ....

Hey Creative one! I will be bringing by those comforters today so hopefully that will give them lots of batting. Also, I have water bottles, do they still need those?

If anyone is looking to make a donation that "really counts" right now .... the shelter sure could use:

puppie/kitten formula
any canned food (with pull top lids)
treats

there are SO many babies, mommies, small ones, and those who could use some extra care -- all need the formula or canned food to help get LOTS of nutrients quickly ....
treats are just a little low ....

thank you for even reading this and considering to donate wub.gif smile.gif

a few updates ....

PLEASE NO MORE SOCKS OR BOTTLES! sad.gif ... I know this was a great hit & disappointment, but the "dog" toys are clogging drains and has caused at least ONE choking hazzard ... small sock with catnip for cat toys are still going to be accepted! we have been asked to cease ... the fleece tug toys are still acceptable for the dogs!!! So fleece is most welcomed! old shirts/sweatshirts or blankets (yardage too!) are EXTREMELY helpful to make these wonderful and loved toys! smile.gif

OVERLOADED with towels/sheets at this time ... please hold the donation or find another outlet! smile.gif

we REALLY need:
TREATS (both dog and cats)
Mom FOOD ... canned, supplemental food/milk for babies, etc!!
any canned food!

THANK YOU ALL SUPPORTERS!! smile.gif

Operating hours are: 12 to 5 everyday (except wednesday). One slight note - shelter will be closed for memorial day.

I'm not sure about rawhides - I know we give biscuits, pigs ears and other type treats to the dogs. Cats get anything we have!

thanks for asking!

... for those who don't know or were not aware of, spring has officially sprung at the shelter!
Mom's and/or babies are everywhere!

If anyone can assist with any of the following, it will be VERY MUCH appreciated.
-- Canned food!! Pull top lids are the best, but will take anything at this time.
-- TREATS (both dog and cats)
-- Supplemental food/milk for babies. Yes there are some that have to be bottle fed, plus we mix with other food to help boost some of the babies nutritional intake.

Thank you!

Hi Co,
Have so been thinking about you guys,
Been missing my visits.
Millcreek and Meltid have got me helping with some fund raising, i am very excited.
I miss you guys and the fur babies.
Wanted to come a few times this week.
This oral surgery has gotten to me.
The meds did not agree with me, and I am having some pain off and on.
Trying not to use the strong stuff they gave me, but I am trying to function here.

Just wanted you to know even though you haven't seen or heard from me in a while,
I am always thinking of you guys, Especially since i know how rough the last few months have been with the flood of young animals and turn ins.
Stay strong as always, and tell everyone there I said Hi!

I have a huge delivery of food, treats, and toys to make. My formal dining table is piled up with all the bags, cans, cases, toys, and treats for the furry ones. This stuff is from Sooch and us, and we have had it sometime now, but just haven't been able to get it to the shelter. Sorry about that.

We will make an effort to get all of this there on Sunday.

Nemie, I don't know what area you live in, but whenever my schedule allows I would be more than happy to come by and take the stuff to the shelter for you.

The latest requests of items needed for the shelter:

White rice

Rice cooker (anyone have an old one they no longer use?)

Plain Yogurt (NOT low-fat)

Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (or any 'degreasing' brand)

Clothes pins

In the on-going efforts to always provide the best care for the shelter pets and reduce sickness, a new program has begun at the Paulding Animal Shelter.

A recent visit by a veterianarian specializing in "Shelter Medicine" provided tips on proven low-cost ways to boost the immune systems of the pets upon arrival and during their stay.

Additional sanitizing measures as simple as using Dawn dishwashing liquid to clean cages (along with the disinfectants) have proven to reduce disease in close quarters such as shelter environments or breeder/pet store establishments.

The rice for dogs and yogurt for cats is intended to sooth, cleanse and strengthen the digestive system, in turn strengthening the immune system. It is being mixed with their regular meals daily.

No, not your "normal" shelter requests, but the staff is very excited over this new opportunity to continue to provide the best care possible for these unwanted pets. smile.gif

Any and all donations are ALWAYS greatly appreciated! wub.gif

CreativeOne I thought they said they didn't want more toys made out of bottles . They said the bottles were stopping up the drains. That is why I quit making them. Are they wanting more bottles for something else? If so Pm Scooch she had alot to give me. If she still has them .I am sure she will give them to you.
Never mind old post.

Oh, I followed the link in the first post, which took me to the Snuggles area. It said that it was $10 to join. How big are they? I love to crochet, but don't have the patience for adult sized anything. This may just be my cup of tea.

Cat toys are still being made from children's socks and the kitties love them. The bottles were subject to crack/splinter and became a health hazard, so they are off the list.

Thank you for thinking of the shelter! smile.gif

How much refrigeration space does the shelter have for the yogurt? And ... clothes pins? smile.gif

Hmmm ... I don't know what kind of toys they're making, but my cats love to get ahold of MY socks, so I'm not sure why they'd *have* to be children's socks.

Rio, the shelter has two extra refrigerators (besides break room) that were donated several years ago. Meds are stored there, but there is extra room for the yogurt.

Daily feedings of the yogurt (large tablespoon each serving) are using 3-4 large containers of yogurt. This should slow as the cat/kitten flood subsides later this year. Right now it is still in full gear. sad.gif

Clothes pins . . . I knew someone would ask that! tongue.gif The clothes pins are to attach towels to the side of open cages that are free-standing in the medical room to block the spread of germs. Wooden would be best. Right now they are "tucked" at the top of the cage and fall easily.

The smaller socks only require one end to be sewn after stuffing with fiber. The larger ones are too big for the kitty cages unless cut in half.

OK, I get the sock thing. smile.gif

I wonder what would be cheaper: clothes pins, or those black metal clips that you can use to hold a LOT of paper? The ones that look like this:

Number of downloads: 1

I'm just thinking that the binder clips would last longer than clothes pins. Opinions?

hmmmm..... would the metal rust?

I would think wooden clothespins would be less expensive - unsure.gif

I might can scrape up a few binder clips if you guys would like to try them compared to the clothes pins. If my children haven't gotten into them, I may have a pack of pins left too. What are Sat. hours?
