My daughter decided today that she wanted to make some dog treats up. I have a million recipes for dog and cat treats that I wanted to put into a recipe book but never had the time or chance to. There is one recipe we do use often for our dogs that they love. Well today my daughter who will be 11 in a few weeks wanted to make these up but ALL BY HERSELF... Little scared but said okay and took everything out that she would need. She made them up and double batched it. Then she is wrapping them up and out the door she goes... She gave them out to our friends and neighbors for their pets as well...

Next thing I know she is looking at me with these BIG BROWN EYES and tell me that she wants us to team up as mother and daughter to make these and sell them. Then she wants to donate the profits to help animals...

How could I say NO.... So my plate was full but now its a platter and still full...

Anyone have any ideas on what we need to make sure is on the package?

Ugghh... I love my daughter!!!

how wonderful for her .... she has a big heart & big dreams!
awareness is fantastic and taking it to the next step is ambigious!

You might want to check out local craft shows, or other groups in your area to see how you can team up at them. Homemade treats are usually a great hit at craft shows and with xmas coming, could make good stocking stuffers
Research a lot of different recipes -- I know some which can be made and frozen until ready to "sell", others are dried which are tranportable.

She could (with your help of course) just want to provide "support" to those waiting for their homes ... make a bunch and just donate to your local shelter or to rescues in the area.

It is all good and thanks to her for wanting to help!

Over the years I have made homemade dog treats and still do, just not as often.

Be sure to list all ingredients, as it is really important because many dogs cannot have certain items in their diets. Most owners want to know everything that is in the treats.

There are lots of great receipes out there. I used to have over 200, but ended up with only a few that were doggies favs after a while.

As CO said, there are always booths at craft shows that have treats, all of them are a little different in some way.
