The original post was lost during the paulding.com upgrade.

East Paulding lost to Cherokee last Friday while Harrison lost to Marietta. This puts three teams as contenders for 4th place.

Harrison
Cherokee
East Paulding

Harrison being in the best position needs to win. With a Harrison lost, Cherokee can take it. For East Paulding to make it to the play offs, EP must win while Harrison and Cherokee looses.

An East Paulding win is a long shot as they play number 2 Woodstock. But last year, Woodstock upset over East Paulding in the final game took EP from 1st to 3rd and gave Woodstock a 4th place position.

I heard that Coach Reid is trying to get an interview for the Valdosta job. Where else is he looking?

Actually the team with the best shot at the play-offs is Marietta! If all three of the top teams (Cherokee, East, and Harrison) loses and they probably will (I pray for East to wake up and get an upset!!), and Marietta beats Kennesaw Mt, then they would be the number #4 seed. If I were a betting man I'd say Marietta will be the #4 seed out of our region.

As far as Reid goes, the rumors always start this time of year. He has done a great job turning around the East program and has an awesome resume. Don't believe half of what you hear, because it isnt true. If he goes somewhere then he does, and East fans owe him a big thanks for 4 fun years!! Till then he is the coach of the East Paulding Raiders and speculation doesnt matter. BTW Valdosta still has a coach, and isnt looking for one. Valdosta looks like it will get into the state play-offs as the #4 seed at 7-3, and is beginning to turn things around in the state's toughest region.

Gonna be tough for the Raiders to get into the playoffs now. They have got to show up and play to the level that I know they are capable of doing. They have yet to finish a game. As far as Reid leaving or applying at Valdosta. I wouldn't believe half the stuff that goes around. Since Coach Reid took the head coaching job at EP there has been rumors of him leaving. Let me just say, if he does decide he wants to move on to bigger and better things, then so be it, thats coaching, your always trying to become a better football coach and trying to broaden your resume, and yes all the fans and supporters owe John Reid and his assistant coaches a great deal of gratitude for coming in and turning this program around the way they did. There has always been talent coming through EP and finally a coaching staff has come in and developed that talent and got things to going. As for Valdosta looking for another head coach that is very true. They told Coach Rick Tomberlain that they wouldn't be extending his contract, so Coach Tomberlain is coaching his last days at Valdosta, its a great community down there wish such pride. All they want to do is win down there and nothing else. I hope they find them someone that will come in and get the kids to buy in to what he will be trying to do down there. Its a tough job, and a tough way to make a living thats for sure. Because they take losing ball games personal down there, I mean they are the Winningest high school football team in the nation.

I wish the boys luck this Friday night, and I hope they are focused on the task at hand all week. The EP team that showed up after the 1st Qtr against Cherokee was a team that I hope to never see again. Guys whatever you do don't ever think you have a game won because you are up 14-0. Teams don't just roll over and let you beat them, you have to go out and take it from them. I know the guys have it in them I've seen the guts and grit in them before. I sure hope I see it Friday night, and I hope to see and hear all the fans Friday night. It seems to me that a lot of the fans have given up on them, and that should never happen. The atmosphere that surrounded the game Friday night was just terrible and I hope it never gets like that again. Those boys deserve a fan base that is loud as all get out so they can feed off the energy. I look forward to the game Friday and I challenge everyone out there to bring your loud voices with you to the game, I want it so loud at Woodstock I shouldn't hear my self echoing off the home side.

GOOO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah I just read that...It is a shame that Valdosta has become just an average team. No matter who comes there Lowdnes is where the talent seems to be now. It is hard to be a coach at such a rich program that will never be that good again...People just remember the 20+ years of championships. Times have changed.

I'd love to see the Raiders play 4 qts. like Friday. If they can, then the upset shoe will be on Raiders beating Woodstock in a revenge for last years upset of us! GO RAIDERS!!!!

Yes, it is funny how the Raiders are in Woodstocks position from last year. If they can put together 4 qtrs of solid football, I like our chances. But they can't be thinking they have the game won if they go up 14-0, and if they get down 14-0 they can't just roll over and call it quits. The boys have got to fight for it and if they want it bad enough they can get it, I hope the keep the the 4 year playoff run alive. As far as the Valdosta situation goes, Lowndes does have a lot of folks to draw from since they are the county school. However, everyone knows that Valdosta has the tradition and everyone in the nation has heard of them so a lot of folks move their kids down there to play. Once they get their new head coach in there, they have got to give him more time than just 4 years to run the program. They need to give the man complete control, they have to trust the coach. They can't always go out and look for a coach that is going to be the next Wright Bazemore or Nick Hyder. They actually had a really good one down there but they told him to hit the road a while back, and now he's at Woodstock and he has them going. They have ran off some pretty good coaches down there and its a shame they can't give folks time.

If Reid Leaves so what. Coach Hammontree won't miss a beat. He's the best coach on the staff IMO anyway.

Whoever squeaks in the #4 seed has to drive to Grayson to play the #1 rank Grayson Rams. doesn't sound too fun, but one more week of football for these seniors would be great.

What would it take for EPHS to make the playoffs? Who would have to lose or win?
