I do not hate cats but I am allergic to them and have no personal use for them. None of my neighbors have ever had cats until the new folks moved in this last spring. I see their cats in my yard and bushes. I see them in my other neighbor's yard too. To be honest I really do not care if they come into my yard. The problem I now have is that today my wife's battery went out in her 05 Yukon. Well it is pushing 5 years. So I go to charge the battery and open the hood. What did I find? The cats have been getting on her engine and using the hood insulation pad as a scratching pad. My amicability ends when your animals start destroying my property. Now I have to pay for a new pad before the engine heat ruins the hood's paint. dry.gif dry.gif And even if I go to them they'll just say "how do you know it was our cats?" Cause you have the only cats in the area. Then it will be "how am I supposed to control them? I can't put them on a leash or fence them in." Answer: It really is not my problem how you do it, but keep your cats off my property and out of my vehicles.

I know it sounds mean but I keep my dogs out of their yard and from destroying their stuff. They should should be just as vigilant.

They cannot be controlled... Dogs have owners.. Cats have staff.

I fell your pain though, paintball is the clear winner.

You implied it in your thread title but didn't mention it in your post - Paulding County's leash law applies to cats as well as dogs and other animals.

http://www.paulding....imalcontrol.asp

Does Paulding County have a leash law? Yes, all animals must be contained in a fence, pen, or building at all times unless the animal is on a leash held by a person. No animal can be kept on a chain, rope, or other tethering device unless inside of a protective barrier - i.e.: fence, pen or building.

Are cats covered under the containment ordinance? Yes, cats and all domestic animals must be kept on the owner’s property, just like dogs. This best way to keep cats on your property is to keep them indoors. Some people choose to build pens (with tops) to let their cats enjoy the great outdoors safely.

It really burns me up to find paw prints on our cars, after a while, you can see the scratch marks.

I hear you.

I've never heard of cats roaming in packs like dogs naturally do. I've never heard of a cat attacking a person. These points and others are probably why the law isn't enforced with cats.

We have an outdoor cat, so I'm tolerant of others' dogs being in my yard and going to the bathroom or whatever. About the only thing I don't tolerate is dogs chasing the cat, but I don't do more than run them off when they do it--I live in a glass house. I wouldn't tolerate animals tearing things up, but the neighbor's dogs have yet to do that, that I know of.

My opinions do not reflect a command of reasoning but instead, reflect that reason commands my opinions.

Good idea. They say cats have a free spirit. Just poop on their door step and if they complain just say you are a '60's child and have a free spirit like their cat.

I complained here a while back about how one neighbor let their two dogs out and one would mess in my yard. I tried everything including talking to the owner. Animal control said take a picture but dogs are not let out the same time. I then started collecting the poop and then dumped it in their driveway. They stopped until recently but now they do it in the neighbor's yard across the street. He is livid and said he was going to catch the dog and take it for a ride. I told him what I did but added collect it in a paper bag, put it on their front stoop, set it on fire, ring the door bell and run. Some neighbor's think they can do anything.

Never heard that before... guy up the street has had a dog tied to a cable 24/364 next to his garden plot for as long as I can remember and I've lived here 10 years. No fence or anything, just the cable run and a dog house.

Interesting...

okay, I have an idea.

You have started taking an interest in weather balloons.

While working on launching one, cats jump in gondola and pull the tether. Last you see, they are floating away.

All fear that cats jump, but do not land on their feet, and are never seen again.

Meanwhile, back at the crime scene, trapped cats are taken to Ellijay to live out their time in the back of Poole's Barbecue.

I do recommend keeping your pet kitties indoors however the whole issue of pet over-population begins with EACH one of us. Eradicating cats- does not remove the problem. TNR does. (trap/neuter/release)
We as a society domesticated these animals and should be responsible for their wellbeing. Every day innocent animals that WERE somebody's pet are euthanized because people will not be responsible and sterilize their animal companions!

I'd guess most people just don't report getting attached by a puss and the numbers my be higher than you think.

Well after two failed attempts with a malfunctioning trap we got another trap. 1st night out BINGO!! We got 2, with just 1 trap. Took them to the pound today and turned them over, along with the address of the owners. I truly hope they get the message. Too bad so many cat owners will not listen to their neighbors concerns. rolleyes.gif

You are probably correct, it is more "acceptable" for a cat to scratch/bite someone than a dog, people just don't see it as being as bad as a dog bite, although a cat bite or scratch is much nasiter and more likely to cause infection, etc.

I hope they will get the message as well! If they don't keep trapping them and turning them in and eventually they will get tired of paying to reclaim them and/or get a citation.

I was about 6. The family was returning from a HS football game in a '67 Pymouth Sport-Fury. We hear faint meows and at the moment daddy started to slow down to investigate......WHAM! It didn't just kill the cat, it threw the cat halfway out of the seam between the inner and outer fenders. It was prodruding, partially visible in the wheelwell. It was terrible.

I hear you.

I've never heard of cats roaming in packs like dogs naturally do. I've never heard of a cat attacking a person. These points and others are probably why the law isn't enforced with cats.
