My kids have done it for the last couple of years but this year they weren't interested. I would love to see it done later in the year and maybe due after the Christmas break.

My kids did it several years. Won a couple of times. Great achievement for the kids who enter.

No matter what I find, it is not going to be a fact.

Reflections is controlled by National PTA. They can't do it at the local level any later in the year because for those that go to National competition - it's already being held in march/april time frame.

My kids have done it a couple of times. This year's them was just so blahhh in my opinion.

It is due on the local level VERY early in the school year.

This is the first time either one of my kids have done it.

You are right. I thought the theme was great for younger kids.

I will be judging this week. This will be my 4th or 5th year and I have been in several schools. I will post my overall thoughts later but I hope presentation has improved.

By that I mean, spelling, punctuation, context etc. of the written part of the presentation may need to be corrected.

I know this this is contrary to the directive of the National PTA, (no adult help I think I read), but if a project is handed in, as some I have seen, they should not be on the school grounds past the end of the day bell. The teacher should tell the student to "fix the problems" and resubmit the project.

I will get into trouble for this, but. We send students to school to learn things, not to feel good. I would hope that the completion of a task done correctly might lead to a child feeling not, "just good", but ,"OF GREAT SATISFACTION", for doing and delivering their best.

Some of the students work very hard on their projects and it shows. I have enjoyed working with the local PTA in the various schools and look forward to continuing this relationship.

My grandson entered a photo that he took of a couple of our pigeons on a rafter in the barn. Evidently, beauty to him is two pigeons. LOL He attends New Ga. Elementary. He was excited to get the camera all to himself to take pictures. Did a pretty good job for a being in kindergarten.

My daughter entered on the middle school level in 2 different catagories. She has done reflections just about every year since kindergarten. She has won many times, and not won many times, but she always tries.

The Paulding PTA/PTSA County/Council deadline is November 5. State deadline is December 4. Local schools set their own deadlines but it takes a month to get all entries organized and judged. I have about 600 entries to get judged at county level every year. That is the reason we have to get it wrapped up so early. Please remember this program is sponsored by the National PTA and run by VOLUNTEERS. We struggle every year to get more volunteers and replace ones lost. Most of us work full time jobs and it is very difficult to be a volunteer at times.

About the theme:
The National PTA sends out Theme Search forms to our local PTA/PTSAs every year and students can send in their ideas for the next years theme. The winning student receives $100.00 from the National PTA. This years theme is "Beauty is...".

About our supportive teachers:
Since this program is run by volunteers, teachers are not necessarily responsible for entries. Most teachers take the time out of their busy schedules to help out volunteers and we appreciate every effort they give. Some of the local Reflections chairs are teachers themselves because we couldn't get any parents to step in and volunteer. We couldn't do a good job if we didn't have the support of our parents, teachers and staff, principals, and county BOE. Some counties don't have this support. Paulding County does and it shows at State level. We continue to look great at State and National level. We have a lot of talented students!

I feel so fortunate to be involved in the Reflections program! I have a great group of local chairs. A lot of them are 'new' so go easy on them. If you would like to volunteer, please get in contact with your local school Reflections chair or PTA/PTSA representative. They need your help now! More information can be researched at the Georgia PTA website. Thank you for your continued support! :-)
