I have a very large amount of news papers - I went by Sunday evening, and there is a gate up so you can not pull up to the front door. It is wayyyyy to many (and heavy) to haul up the hill. I work in Atlanta, so I am not home before you close again...and it going to rain, and I hate for them to get wet in the back of the truck....is there somewhere I can drop them off later in the evenings...I will keep saving them, and I will see what else I can send.

Can you take them to the Dallas Billiards (in Paulding Plaza, after 6 pm)? MizCue may be able to get someone else to take them to the shelter from there (?) .....

THANK YOU FOR TRYING!!

:::hoping someone else may be able to help too:::

I'll pick some up and bring it by Thurs morning (around the back). Do you like the real rice or the minute rice? (sorry, dumb question)

Rice prices have "almost" doubled since last year and at Sam's Club a 20 lb bag ( BEST VALUE per lb, yellowish bag with a handle) is around $9, a 25 lb bag is about $14 and a 50 lb bag is like $25. These are the best prices I have found.

NO DUMB QUESTIONS!! ASK AND ASK!!

Rice should be the long grain white rice (Minute is just a faster and more expensive version as they cook it briefly before drying and packing) ....

the cheap stuff in a bag (usually on the bottom shelf) is great for the shelter as they have gotten a couple of rice cookers.

THANK YOU!!

Really appreciate the information! I had no idea rice had gone up that much ... I usually get it at Kroger, last time for about 15# for about $9 but even with the prices you posted it is a much better deal!

As always, anyone is welcome to drop off stuff at my house (south paulding area) and I will shuttle it over to the shelter.

This weekend there will be a booth at the festival in Dallas, bring your donations with you.
Saturday
11am to 6pm (just found out the times, smile.gif)

Costco had the 50 lb bag of rice for 20.00. it is a little cheaper than Sam's.

With this extremely cold weather, the shelter should could use the following:
- Hay or Straw
- Old blankets or comforters

This would be very appreciated for the dogs who are in the outside runs or the yards. They have (some) houses to go into, but that is still cold plastic ....

Also, here are items which are always needed (master list thread has an even bigger list):
- Canned food
- Plain yogurt (no low fat, non fat or fruit)
- Plain long grain white rice
- Treats

- Any "leftover" medicine

I tried it because I had it here and mine love it. When my shelter babies were kittens, I mixed Vanilla yogurt, Infant Rice cereal and a little bit of water...fattened them right up.

Does the shelter accept "slightly"-used cat toys? I finally bagged up most of my cat's toys, because he never played with them, and it almost fills a grocery store-sized bag! I would be honored to pass them along to relieve some boredom for the poor shelter kitties!

Shelter could really use a few kiddy pools if anyone has one that they are looking to get rid of -- really helps the outside dogs especially in this heat.

Also, here are items which are always needed (master list thread has an even bigger list):
