Ok.. I have a family of five and as the momma (caretaker of all illnesses) I feel like it couldn't hurt to pack up an emergency supply "Flu Box" maybe a tote full of tissues, some otc meds, broth cubes, etc.. (This is my better safe than sorry film from elementary school kicking in. lol.)

Please copy/paste & add to the list.

I went out and bought some extra groceries yesterday, just in case stores close. I bought canned foods, frozen foods, dried beans, rice, snack foods, cereal bars, bottled juices, granola bars, powdered milk, etc. Stuff I would normally have, with a few extras. I have some basic cold and flu items already, so I didn't stock up on those. Tissues, I forgot. Oh well. I don't know how bad it will get, but if things close down, I want to make sure my family has basic needs met.

I can understand schools shutting down but stores??? I'm only stocking up in case we get sick and don't feel like we can get out to get supplies.

If people are sick, schools are closed, etc., then who will work in the stores? Who wants to be in a store where the virus could spread? What about people being quarantined, should it decide to get worse? Those are the things I was thinking about.

Right now, just thinking basic needs. If I see it getting serious, then I will add to these things with lots of extras. Check this out: http://www.pandemicf.../checklist.html

I'm not as worried about getting sick as I am about our family doing without. Garden, cows, chickens (eggs and such), stored items. We are getting ready for that!

I sooooooo wish I had room for several cows (dual purpose-meat and milk), a larger garden, pigs (flu-free of course), and a root cellar.

Just make sure you rotate you stock periodically ...... a lot of the "medicines" listed do have expiration dates as well as food (even canned).
